Emily and Steven’s Park Hyatt New York Wedding is Featured in The Knot!

I am SO excited to be sharing Emily and Steven’s gorgeous Park Hyatt New York wedding! This beautiful couple’s wedding day is currently featured in The Knot New York Magazine as one of their Real Weddings! Read on to get a behind-the-scenes look at the style and grace of this iconic NYC-inspired wedding, with details and tips from bride Emily herself!

How They Met

Steven likes to say that we met on Mustlovepets.com, but that isn’t true. I (the bride) went to visit a college friend in Boston for the weekend.  I picked up my friend and his friend (the groom) in my car to go to a party. So we met in my car, and the rest is history.

Falling in Love with The Park Hyatt New York Wedding Venue

We loved our Park Hyatt New York wedding! We knew from the second we walked into the ballroom that this is where we should be married (it was only the second venue we saw!). The Park Hyatt New York is the epitome of modern elegance. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. The walls are white onyx and there is a giant antique mirror that I was in awe of. Plus, the carpet was pretty (why do most wedding venues have horrible geometric carpets?!) Not only was the ballroom beautiful, but the whole venue space is very unique. It is set-up like a home, with the area outside of the ballroom called “the residences”. It was also a huge plus that the wedding team at this venue was fantastic. They are respectful and knowledgeable. We looked at other venues after seeing the PHNY, as it was at the top end of our budget, but none of them stood up.

Classic New York Style Wedding

We wanted a classic New York City wedding. When we walked into the Park Hyatt, we immediately thought of my grandfather who was a stone engineer. The PHNY uses a variety of natural stone in the walls and floors and we were inspired! We paid homage to my (Emily’s) grandfather and used agate and geode elements to tie together the theme and the venue.

Our theme colors were black and white with touches of light pink. The bridal party outfits were black and white, the groom wore black and white, and the bride wore white and pink. Our flowers were also of this color scheme, with the main flower being an anemone (white with a black center). Our wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, menus, programs and save the dates were all black and white. The dance floor was black, while the walls were white onyx. The gift bags were also black and white, as was the cake!

Saying Yes to the Perfect Dress

My wedding dress is my favorite thing I have ever owned! It is a BERTA BRIDAL gown, purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue. It is a mermaid style in white, with pink overlay that gives it a light pink/blush color. This strapless, floral lace dress has very light beading and a train that goes forever. I wore a beaded belt, as well. For the ceremony, I wore a pink and white tulle skirt with just a touch of shimmer over the dress. I said I wanted something show-stopping, unlike what anyone else wears, and I think I accomplished that while still remaining true to my own personal style.

Emily’s Bridal Style

My veil was borrowed from my best friend – it is a white tulle veil with a simple, white trim. I wore my grandmother’s broach on it as a veil weight. Holding my veil in place were vintage navy blue sapphire bobby pins from Etsy.

My jewelry was from Henri Bendel. I wore floral sparkly drop earrings, a matching ring and a matching bracelet. I also wore my engagement ring. Tied to my bouquet was my Nefertiti necklace, which is a family heirloom. It was bought in Saudi Arabia by my grandfather. All of the women in my family have one. My grandfather told us that “Nefertiti was the most beautiful woman in the world, just as his women are the most beautiful women in the world.”

My shoes were Vince Camuto Imagine. They matched my dress almost perfectly. They have pink floral lace on the toe, back, and heel. The style is called Victoria Pump. They were so comfortable! I really love shoes and was ready to drop a pretty penny on fancy designer shoes, but once I saw these, I knew they would be perfect.

My hair was worn long, down, and in loose curls. I wanted it to look as much like me as possible, plus Steven loves when my hair is curly. I didn’t want my hair to be the focus. For my makeup, I also wanted to look as natural as possible.  I just wanted eyeliner and a matte lip, everything else I left to my makeup artist. I had eyelash extensions on, which I recommend to everyone!

Steven’s Groom Style

The groom wore a Hugo Boss shawl collar tuxedo with a bow tie and a white pocket square (he loves a pocket square). He wore braces under his tux. His shirt was a Brooks Brothers shirt and his shoes were by Hugo Boss as well. He wore a Cartier Santos watch, given to him by me on our wedding day. His cuff links were monogrammed and matched his groomsmen’s.

Bridesmaids in Black

I had one Matron-of-Honor (my best friend), one Maid-of-Honor (My 11-year-old niece), and seven bridesmaids. They all wore black to match our black and white color scheme. I wanted them to look classic and to be comfortable. The dresses were black chiffon, by Bill Levkoff. The bridesmaids had a beautiful chiffon flower on their chest and my maid and matron-of-honor had chiffon flowered straps. These dresses were great because they were flattering on different body shapes and sizes. All the girls wore matching necklaces from Karla’s Jewelry in McAllen, TX, given to them by me as a thank you.

City Streets, Park Views

I loved doing pictures in Central Park and on the streets of Manhattan! I love the contrast between the two and how they can be captured in one afternoon.

Park Hyatt New York Wedding Ceremony

Our Park Hyatt New York wedding ceremony was perfect! We didn’t go overboard decorating the aisle, because we wanted to focus to be the Chuppah and the room is already so stunning. We had a white runner with flower petals and candles on the sides. We were married in front of the antique mirror. We also placed pictures of our deceased grandparents in the front to “reserve” seats for them and to honor them.

Flower Girl Fashion

Our flower girls were my cousin’s daughters (Jillian age 9, Olivia age 6) and our ring bearers were my husband’s nephews (Jackson age 6, Mason age 4). The flower girls picked their own dresses after seeing ones they liked in a store window. The boys wore tuxedos to match the groomsmen.

Olivia originally didn’t want to walk down the aisle, but she did great with the help of her sister! The flower girls carried vintage wooden baskets with flower petals. Jackson and Mason were excited to walk together and they held a glass jewelry box with a “W” on it with the rings inside. Inside the box was Steven’s grandmother’s favorite flowers.

Special Traditions

We had a few special traditions to honor my Jewish heritage. We both stomped on the glass at the end of ceremony before being announced husband and wife. Why should the groom have all the fun? We also signed the Ketubbah with our whole family and bridal party, instead of just our parents and the witnesses. We wanted everyone to be a part of it.

Our ceremony was partly a traditional Jewish ceremony, but because Steven is not Jewish, we did not make religion the center of the ceremony, and it was more cultural than religious. We were married by my Uncle who is a retired Supreme Court Judge. He did an unbelievable job combining the Jewish culture and religion with personalized words to us. It was very special to us to have him officiate.

The Groom, and bridal party walked down the aisle to Perfect by Ed Sheeran (Electric Violin version by Eduard Freixa) and I walked down to Only Us by Dear Evan Hansen (instrumental version). After the ceremony, we walked out to You’ve Got the Love by Florence and the Machine.

Wedding Day Advice

Right after you are pronounced husband and wife, but before you walk back down the aisle, stop. Stop and look out at everyone there and at each other. Take it all in, because it goes too fast.

Welcoming the Guests

We wanted our guests to be excited as soon as they walked into our Park Hyatt New York wedding. For seating, we chose to do an Escort Mirror with decals for the names and table numbers instead of cards. The mirror is now hanging in our home and we can always look back to see who was at our wedding.

Cocktail Hour

We loved our cocktail hour. SUCH good food! We had a variety of passed hors d’oeuvres and stations (Dim Sum, Peeking Duck, Pigs in a Blanket, Meatballs, etc.). We each had a signature drink- the Bride’s was a Salty Dog and the Groom’s was an Old Fashioned. The PHNY has the best cocktails.

We had a band for cocktail hour too (Platinum Stars Entertainment). We had two musicians who played guitar and sang. They played everything from pop to acoustic versions of old school hip-hop songs.

Park Hyatt New York Wedding Reception

For our Park Hyatt New York wedding reception, we had family style and traditional style tables and seating. I wanted the main focus to be the dancing! I wanted the tablecloths to match the overall theme, and thank goodness the linens used by the PHNY were just what I wanted. I also loved that their chairs were not traditional. We had beautiful, over the top flowers and candles. We used agate bookends for table numbers to tie in the Agate/Geode theme.

Blooming Wedding Florals

My primary choice for flowers was an anemone, because of the coloring. I wanted all fluffy white flowers for the Park Hyatt New York wedding reception, with touches of light pink. We had flower letters on the back of our chairs that I loved. My favorite part of our florals was our Chuppah. We had the most amazing cherry blossoms. It was tall and luxurious. I think it was the highlight of all of our design choices- it felt like we were married in a cherry blossom forest.

Something Sweet

YUMMMM! Ron Ben Israel created the most delicious and beautiful wedding cake. It was designed to look like black marble (to match our theme!) and had sugar flowers that matched the reception flowers of our Park Hyatt New York wedding. Inside our cake were vanilla “Funfetti”, chocolate, and cookies ‘n cream layers with salted caramel filling. The outside was black fondant marbled with white & gray.

Love in Every Detail

Our first dance was to Adele’s One and Only. This is the first song we ever danced to (on our second date) and the song that was playing when we got engaged. Steven and I sang it right before we got engaged and he began his proposal by saying “We should dance to this song at our wedding. Will you marry me?”

A Night to Remember, a Love to Last a Lifetime

Emily and Steven’s gorgeous Park Hyatt New York wedding was truly a night to remember! I am so thrilled to have shared in this special day with such a lovely couple.

A True Southern Belle

I am so thrilled to finally be sharing Emily’s gorgeous cherry blossom bridal portraits from this spring! Emily married the love of her life, Mark, this past weekend! I joined Emily in Central Park a few months ago at the height of NYC’s cherry blossom bloom to capture this beautiful bride surrounded by the soft, perfectly pink florals.

Emily is a true Southern belle! This sweet bride is from Texas and has such a kind soul! Emily is a talented Broadway actress and can currently be seen as Glinda in Wicked! I had so much fun with her and I loved seeing how excited she was to marry Mark during this incredible NYC bridal portrait session.

Cherry Blossom Bridal Portraits

Bridal portraits are very popular in the south, so it made perfect sense for Emily to put a New York spin on the tradition! We were both so excited to shoot among the cherry blossoms in Central Park. The sun glimmered through the trees as we walked the petal covered park paths. Emily’s flowy wedding gown stood out beautifully against the backdrop of soft pinks! During the photoshoot, Emily and I shared lots of laughs and her smile shone so brightly in her bridal photos! We also journeyed to the lake for some bridal portraits overlooking the water, and Emily had the biggest smile as she hailed a cab in her wedding gown!

Their Love Story

Emily and Mark have been together over two years! Mark proposed to Emily last year on a gorgeous fall day near Battery Park. He even hired a friend to capture photos of the proposal so they could share the moment with their families! Emily was so thrilled that Mark planned out the day with so many thoughtful details.

After nearly a year of excitement and anticipation, Emily and Mark became husband and wife on Sunday at the Central Park Boathouse! They chose a Sunday because Emily and many of the couple’s friends work on Broadway and have busy Saturday night shows! Their wedding was incredible and I loved getting to watch Mark see Emily in her wedding dress for the first time! It was such a heartwarming moment!

I am so excited to share some of my favorite moments from Emily’s gorgeous cherry blossom bridal portraits! Thank you for blessing me with an abundance of love, joy and laughter – it was such an honor to be a part of your beautiful love story!

Hamilton Farm Golf Club wedding photographed by NJ wedding photographer Amy Rizzuto of Amy Rizzuto Photography

At the peak of last fall’s incredible foliage, Amy and JD celebrated their forever love by tying the knot with a gorgeous Hamilton Farm Golf Club wedding! Their wedding day was truly a celebration of two families joining together in love and laughter!

Amy spent the morning getting ready in her childhood home, surrounded by her family and closest friends! Amy and her friends jumped on the bed in excitement – she couldn’t wait to marry JD! With help from her mom, Amy dressed in her breathtaking gown custom designed by family friend Ralph Rucci and slipped on her Stuart Weitzman heels. After posing with her beautiful bridesmaids, Amy made her way to the church to marry JD!

JD burst into a smile as soon as he saw his beautiful Amy walk down the aisle. Their ceremony was lovely and had an intimate feel due to the closeness of having only family in their bridal party! When Amy and JD were pronounced husband and wife, their guests applauded as the newlyweds shared a perfect first kiss as a married couple!

After their beautiful ceremony, Amy and JD hopped into a vintage white car and drove up the long, tree-lined street to their Hamilton Farm Golf Club wedding! The happy couple had so much fun together posing for portraits among the gorgeous sunset-colored foliage. After Amy and JD spent their first moments as husband and wife together, they joined their guests for a wonderful indoor/outdoor cocktail hour with breathtaking views of the perfect autumn scenery!

Amy and JD entered their Hamilton Farm Golf Club wedding to cheers and applause from their family and friends! Their first dance to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne was romantic and full of sweet moments and joyful smiles. Amy and JD’s guests joined them on the dance floor for an incredible celebration! JD’s family shared a fun tradition started by his grandfather: during “Shout”, all the men put napkins on their heads and danced around JD’s grandmother! This silly and adorable dance has been a part of every wedding since JD’s grandfather passed away. It was amazing to see these two loving families join together!

Amy and JD stole away to share a dance under the romantic outdoor lanterns at dusk. They celebrated their first sunset as husband and wife with a warm embrace and a sweet kiss, highlighted by sparkling stars and golden lanterns.

Thank you so much to Amy and JD for choosing me to capture your beautiful fall wedding! Check out some of my favorite photos from Amy and JD’s gorgeous Hamilton Farm Golf Club wedding below!

Julianna and Quinn celebrate their Bay Head Yacht Club wedding day in this photo by NJ wedding photographer Amy Rizzuto

No amount of clouds could keep Julianne and Quinn’s love from shining brightly on the day of their breathtaking Bay Head Yacht Club wedding! The classic, nautical style of their wedding was sweet, timeless, and fun – just like their beautiful love story!

The matching pajama sets Julianne and her bridesmaids wore while getting ready were simply adorable! Everyone looked so cozy as they posed for pictures and chatted excitedly. The soundtrack to the Greatest Showman was playing in the background and set the mood for the entire day! Julianne was an effortless beauty in her classic J.Crew dress. Her friends and family helped her slip on her Badgley Mischka shoes and pinned her gorgeous veil into her simple, yet stunning updo. The bouquets were a perfect mix of bright white blooms, soft blue accents, and a touch of greenery. The powder blue bridesmaids gowns added such a dreamy touch to the day.

The wedding party traveled to the church in a vintage-style trolley. Julianne and her father took some time together as everyone else headed into the church. It was so touching to see the two share a father-daughter moment together before walking down the aisle! I loved how important family was to both Julianne and Quinn.  You could tell they were such a special part of their wedding day.

The doors to the church opened and Quinn saw just how beautiful Julianne looked for the very first time! Julianne and Quinn couldn’t stop smiling as they held hands and professed their love and commitment to each other in front of their friends and family. The crowd let out a cheer as they were pronounced husband and wife, and the two shared their first kiss as a married couple!

After the ceremony, Julianne and Quinn spent time together around the Bay Head Yacht Club wedding grounds. It was such a joy to capture their first moments as husband and wife! Portraits on the dock at the Bay Head Yacht Club were so romantic!  As Quinn twirled Julianne, their guests cheered from the balcony above. The cloud cover made for some gorgeous portraits of the couple: the two were radiant against the backdrop of soft, white clouds!

The Bay Head Yacht Club wedding reception was full of fun, beachy touches. The escort cards were beach badges buried in sand and the room was full of bright, white florals that made me this of waves crashing on the shore. Julianne and Quinn sent their guests home with delicious rosé gummy bears from sugarfina.

Julianne and Quinn took a moment alone together during the reception to pose for moonlit portraits from the balcony of their Bay Head Yacht Club wedding. The newlyweds ended the night of dancing and celebrations hand-in-hand, ready to start their lives together!

Thank you so much to Julianne and Quinn for choosing me to capture the love and joy of your wedding! I am so happy to share some of my favorite moments from your beautiful day!

Bear Brook Valley wedding photographer Amy Rizzuto captures Lea and David on their Northern NJ wedding day!

When two people are as meant to be as Lea and David, their love shines brightly and fills everyone around them with complete joy! Every moment of Lea and David’s Bear Brook Valley wedding was a testament to how perfect of a match they are! Their day was filled with laughter and fun, as well as sweet, heartfelt moments between this wonderful couple and their family and friends.

Lea and David spent the morning apart in Bear Brook Valley‘s separate on-site getting ready suites. The two were all smiles, each excitedly anticipating the moment they would finally see each other during their first look. Lea clinked monogrammed champagne glasses with her bridesmaids while David toasted his groomsmen with custom mugs.

Lea slipped on her gorgeous Maggie Sottero wedding gown with help from her mother and took a moment to twirl excitedly underneath the chandelier-lit silo. I loved when Lea saw her grandmother for the first time! You could feel that the love and adoration between them both was so strong and it was such a beautiful moment.

When it was time for their first look, David waited anxiously on the bridge. Lea approached him from behind, giggling excitedly. The two embraced and shared smiles, tears, and sweet kisses as they saw each other for the first time! Lea and David joined hands and adventured around the Bear Brook Valley wedding grounds, posing among the beautiful fields and perfect sky. After portraits with their wedding party, Lea and David parted one last time before their ceremony.

David watched as Lea’s brother walked his beautiful bride down the aisle towards him. The couple held hands, smiling brightly as their eyes met. Lea’s cousin officiated their Bear Brook Valley wedding ceremony!  At the beginning, she told of many great love stories before getting to Lea and David’s.  Some of my favorites included Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King!  The whole ceremony was heartfelt and inspiring. Lea and David even wrote their own vows!  There wasn’t a dry eye among their guests as these two laughed and cried their way through their sweet and sometimes funny promises to each other.

Once they were pronounced husband and wife, Lea and David shared a high five, a perfect first kiss, and a sweet embrace. These two couldn’t stop smiling as they followed their guests to the Bear Brook Valley barn. Cocktail hour was enjoyed outside, and the food was not only unique, it was delicious!  Mini sliders were topped with pretzel buns, and there was even a bacon bar with bacon infused bourbon!  How fun!

The Bear Brook Valley wedding reception was filled with gorgeous blooms and greenery by Main Street Bloomery. Lea and David each shared a special dance with their moms, and the whole room was filled with so much joy and love. Lea and David spent almost all of their time at the reception on the dance floor, surrounded by their closest family and friends!  Guests also enjoyed the wrap around deck (covered in twinkle lights along with cozy chairs and a fireplace!) and their fun mirrored photo booth.

As the night came to a close, Lea and David snuck away to take some time together and pose against the star-filled sky for beautiful nighttime portraits. They returned to their guests for a joyful sparkler exit, laughing and running hand-in-hand to begin their lives together as husband and wife.

Lea and David, it was an absolute joy to capture the love and laughter of your beautiful Bear Brook Valley wedding day! Thank you for including me in your love story. I’m thrilled to share some of my favorite photos from your wedding!
