WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

As I sat on the sand listening to the waves roll in and out from the pacific ocean a simple, but important question found its way to my mind..  Why do we do what we do?  It is a question I have heard posed over and over again by the amazing speakers here at UNITED, a photography conference in Santa Barbara, CA.  Wanting to know for myself, I took out my journal and started listing out all the reasons I became a wedding photographer.

I love being around people. I like discovering the little quirks that make each of us special and unique.
I love being in the presence of true love.
I love meeting with couples, hearing all about their lives, and learning why they fell for one another.
I love writing.  Having the opportunity to share my journey and the journey of others on my blog is pretty remarkable.
I love making my own schedule.
I love choosing the physical space where I want to work.  Whether I am in my local coffee shop, on the beach, or at my desk, I enjoy having the choice to pick the place that makes me feel the most creative that day.
I love taking pictures, freezing a moment or a feeling in time.

I love being a part of one of the happiest days of another person’s life.  More importantly, I love documenting it in a beautiful way, a way that will bring back all the feelings of why these two people fell in love and decided to spend their lives together so many years ago.

I am passionate about helping others discover their dreams too.  Take a moment and think about what you love to do, and why you enjoy doing it.  List it out, and post it up on your wall, by your desk, or maybe even on your refrigerator!  Then take one step towards making your dreams a reality each day.  Do what you were made to do, because this is where you will find true happiness.
