WHAT CAMERA SHOULD I BUY? : TOP 2012 CHOICES

What camera should I buy?!  This might be the one question that I am asked the MOST!  Choosing a camera is so important and is something that takes a lot of research. Reading review after review…stats upon stats, it can be exhausting!  So, I have decided to do the leg work for you!  That’s right!  I have compiled a list of my favorite cameras in every price range.  Whether you are just looking for a good point and shoot to document your wedding planning process, or a professional DSLR to capture tact sharp images, there is something here for you!  Sit back, relax, and go shopping for your next digital camera!

First up is the Samsung DV300F Dual View!  Listed at $149, this is a great camera to take to college!  The LCD screen on the front allows you to easily take pictures with your friends by holding the camera yourself or by setting it on timer mode.  It also has WIFI so you can easily upload your photos to Facebook right from your camera!  COOL!  Sleek and seamless, this camera will fit easily into your pocket or favorite clutch.

The Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 HS is up next!  Listed at $199 this is a great point and shoot camera for any situation.  It has 16.1 megapixels, making it easy to print large photographs of your favorites!  It is fast and has a great zoom!  It will also take HD videos!  My favorite part?  It has an in camera smooth skin and soft focus option that will reduce harsh shadows and wrinkles while adding a soft glow to your face.  It can’t get much better than that!

The Nikon Coolpix P510 is a step up from the previous point and shoot cameras.  At $396.95 it is a little pricer but worth it!  This camera has an incredible zoom at x42 (24-1000mm).  WOW!  Other great features include GPS with geo-tagging and an easy 360 degrees panoramic mode, perfect if you are going on a vacation!  Imagine capturing the entire Amalfi Coast with one sweep. 🙂

This camera comes in many colors, but I LOVE the pink!  The Nikon 1 J1 Mirrorless Digital Camera is priced $646.95 and gives you the option to get DSLR quality at the point and shoot size!  It is mirrorless (allowing for the small size) and has an interchangeable lens system!  With low apertures, these lenses will enable you to achieve great bokeh (the effect where your subject is in focus and the background is slightly blurred).  It also has a 73 point auto-focus system, allowing you to capture the tact sharp images you desire.  Seriously…I want this camera!

Now lets get to the BIG BOYS (or girls). 🙂 The Canon EOS 7D SLR is a great DSLR camera and is used most by semi pros, photo enthusiasts, and pros!  At  $1,699, it is a little pricy but won’t totally break the bank.  It boasts 18.0 megapixels and allows for fast shooing at 8 frames per second.  It has a great ISO range (100-6400) and a 19-point auto focus system.  It also records HD video!  I can’t say enough great things about the Canon 7D!  If you are getting serious about photography, this camera is for you!

The mac-daddy of them all…Canon 5D Mark III!  I seriously droll over this camera and I will be adding it to my collection very soon.  🙂  With a 22.3MP full frame sensor and a 61 point high density auto-foucs system, this camera is simply AMAZING.  The best part is it’s ISO capabilities.  Ranging from 50-102400, it is basically possible to shoot in the dark!  This comes in handy for low lit wedding churches and receptions.  At $3,499, it is definitely an investment, but one that will pay off!  If you want to buy it for me now I will be your best friend forever…promise!  🙂

That is me with my 5D Mark II!  I LOVE it!

I hope this post helps you with your next camera purchase!  If you have any questions at all, please post them in the comment box below!  As always, HAPPY FRIDAY!

I had a Nikon D3100 but it got fried. I have the insurance money to pick something new. I had never considered the pink Nikon 1 J1 Mirrorless Digital Camera- do you think it’s up to all DSLR qualitiies? Any suggestions of other DSLR Nikons?
